Youth Exchange Programme (Ghana–Nigeria) FEBRUARY, 2007

Youth Exchange Programme (Ghana – Nigeria)
Ghana YMCA youth hosted their counterparts from the Nigeria YMCA from 3rd – 10th February 2007. The programme focused on areas of common interest between the two youth committees, visit to places of historical importance as well as to the National Head Office and other local YMCAs.

The National Youth Committee of Ghana YMCA is planning a reciprocal visit next year to Nigeria to ensure that this new partnership would be developed to realise the benefit of sharing experiences and best practices.

National Executive Committee (NEC) Meeting
The first NEC meeting for the year was held on 17th February 2007 with greater emphasis on the budget for the year as well as the implementation of the road map reviewed by stakeholders in January 2007.

The National Officers reaffirmed their commitment to the successful implementation of the road map and hence urged all to play their part to ensure that the execution by the various task groups would meet the set targets and objectives.

Strategic Design Meeting
Ghana YMCA hosted the Africa Alliance of YMCAs from 23rd February – 1st March 2007. This meeting was to help the Africa Alliance design a Future Search Process for the next five years to direct the YMCAs on the continent in their activities.

The programme included Africa Alliance Officers Meeting, Executive Committee and Africa YMCA Leaders Meeting, and Meeting with Partners. Partners attending this meeting included the World Alliance of YMCAs, YMCA of the USA, YCARE International, CVJM, Canada YMCA, YMCA/YWCA Sweden, and YMCA of Spain.

A communiqué was issued at the end of the meeting and it was adopted by all Members of the Africa Alliance of YMCAs present. It was agreed that the various Zones would take the Strategic Design up and make their inputs to allow for total ownership by the various National Movements of all the decisions that were arrived at.
