Hip-life artiste Chemphe attends YMCA meeting in Hong Kong

After being appointed by the Africa Alliance of YMCA as the Ghanaian music icon to champion an innovative youth development programme dubbed

“Subject to Citizens”,

at the Africa YMCA Conference held in Accra in May this year, Chemphe is set to put up a great and a historical music performance at a concert to be held at the Victoria Park in Hong Kong.

The concert is part of activities lined up for the World Summit of YMCAs which begun in Hong Kong from 14th and will end on the 22nd of July 2010.

He is the only African artiste performing on the same stage with other music artistes from across the globe hired by the World Alliance of YMCAs to an audience of about 30,000 people made up of participants of the World Summit of YMCA and music lovers from Hong Kong, China and neighbouring countries.

He is expected to perform some of his tracks including 'One People', 'Heart of a Winner', 'Why U Dey Treat am Bad', 'Hidden Emotions' and 'Can I Be' at the conference in Hong Kong.

He will also stage a performance with a section of African delegates on a hit song he composed based on the 'Subject to Citizen' concept during the African summit in Accra.

Chemphe will go through China and then to the UK as well as South Africa before returning home to work on the launch of the Hidden Emotions album in September and the launch of his DVD in October.

Aside the performance, the smooth and silky voiced singer will spearhead a peace building workshop with the delegates and also deliver a speech during the opening of the youth forum at the summit.

The Subject to Citizen (S2C) is a major project of the YMCA across Africa to empower young people and free them from various forms of manipulation, so they can become true citizens and not subjects of some greedy adults, who will use them to perpetuate violence. The song purposely composed by Chemphe for the project will soon hit the airwaves in Ghana.

Men Changing Men
The system of male domination is no new thing in our world today, but the danger is that we as young men do not question it as we are born and socialised into it without being exposed to a masculinity option that does not dominate or harm.
