YMCA Clinches €2.5m Training Deal

Furlander an organisation that is based in Germany and deals in wind mill and nuclear energy on Friday signed a €2.5 million training agreement with the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) Ghana to help train its student and create jobs for the youth.

Speaking at the conference, Joachim Fuhrlaender Chief Executive Officer (CEO) said the organisation intends to offer technology education and train young people in Ghana and Africa as a whole.

Mr. Furlaender stated that he was committed to contributing his quota to the development of Ghanaian youth in order to give them training and secure a good future so that they don’t end up on the streets.

“We want to leave our foot print in terms of education and share our experiences in this world especially with the youth so that they would have something when we are gone.”

He said Africans must not depend on the Europeans since that will delay what ever they want to do
“Africans must initiate something so others could assist them, some of the young men will be flown to Germany so that when they come back they can also help train those around them and we are determined to make this a reality,” he noted.

Ekow Rhoule, President of Africa Alliance of YMCA expressed his gratitude to Mr. Furlaender and his delegation for offering such opportunities to the young men in Africa to maximise their potential adding, “YMCA is a youth development organisation and since Furlaender is also into youth development, this relationship makes us one big family.”

“We appreciate your offer and promise you that our young men in Africa will never forget this wonderful opportunity.”

Carlos Madjiri Sancee, General Secretary of the Africa Alliance of YMCA, in a remark, said this was the first time an organisation had shown such support to YMCA since its partnership with the private sector.

Mr. Madjiri mentioned that 7 million youth undertake YMCA’s programmes every year. He stated that though the project would be established in Ghana, it would serve as a platform for Africa’s youth since most of them would take part in the training.

Men Changing Men
The system of male domination is no new thing in our world today, but the danger is that we as young men do not question it as we are born and socialised into it without being exposed to a masculinity option that does not dominate or harm.
